I am a journalist and research scientist studying the effects of technology on the brain. My essays and features have appeared in the New York Times, The Guardian, The Boston Globe Magazine, Outside and Esquire, among others. A former editor at The Guardian, I’ve overseen special projects on science, environment and health and written on all manner of things. At home in New Mexico, I write, tell stories through sound, hunt, backcountry ski with the pup, and read more poetry than is good for me.
