I am a journalist and research scientist studying how technology changes behavior and the brain, and how those changes ripple through networks. My essays and features have appeared in the New York Times, the Guardian, the Boston Globe Magazine, Outside and Esquire, among others. A former editor at the Guardian and Knight Science Journalism Fellow at MIT, I’ve overseen special projects on science, the environment and health, and written on all manner of things.
